Cooking Instructions and FAQ

Storage

Our plant-based meats are shipped to you frozen and can either be popped straight in the freezer for up to six months (see best before date on pack) or into your fridge to chill for up to seven days!

Once opened, keep them nice and chilly in your fridge and consume within seven days (or eat them all at once, we won’t judge you!)

We don’t recommend refreezing, so make sure you eat them all in seven days!

General

EVERYONE! 🤪  If you’ve never tried plant-based meat alternatives or just want to cut down on your meat consumption, give us a try. We promise you won’t look back! We’re cleaner, greener and tastier too.

You’ll be amazed to hear that Jack & Bry is lower in calories, lower in saturated fats AND has more fibre than other plant-based meats. We are a healthier alternative and all of our products are between 50% and 60% pure jackfruit.

Cooking

Jack & Bry can be cooked super quickly: our burgers can be pan-fried for just eight to ten minutes, our mince in four to five minutes and our sausages in just seven to nine minutes. They can also be baked in the oven! Who said plant-based goodness can’t be quick and easy?

Subscription / purchasing products

You can purchase our meaty meat-free alternatives through our website or through The Vegan Kind Supermarket – you can also sign up for our subscription for a fuss-free monthly treat yourself straight to your door. However, if this doesn’t work for you, you can purchase individual boxes now too!

We also operate a plant-based takeaway/delivery service out of a Hackney-based kitchen in East London, offering hot dishes that can be ordered through Deliveroo, Uber Eats and our website.

Finally, we also work with a range of established foodservice partners that use Jack & Bry in place of pepperoni and other traditional ‘meats’.

Our starry range of partners includes Pizza Express, Papa John’s, Prezzo and One Planet Pizza, with even more in the pipeline. In fact, you might have already tried Jack & Bry and not even known it – and if you haven’t, rest assured we are coming to a plate near you very soon…

Our partners choose us and stay with us because the way we work with jackfruit is unique: our secret process means our jackfruit stays juicy and hugs in flavour like no other plant-based core ingredient. We also marry our jackfruit meats with delicious spices so they taste authentic and super tasty! This sets us apart from all other meat alternatives, and especially on pizza. The sales speak for themselves, and customers love our products too!

If you’re interested in becoming a foodservice partner, please contact our customer service representatives who will connect you with the right member of our team.

We don’t want to see you go, but you can cancel your subscription any time by logging into your account. Alternatively, get in touch with us via Facebook or Instagram and we’ll see if we can help!

Ingredients

We love jackfruit here at Jack & Bry (the clue’s in the name) because it’s a sustainable and climate change-resistant crop. It is also high in fibre, gluten-free and filled to the brim with a range of other health benefits!

We use the flesh of young jackfruit as it has a very meaty texture and loves to ‘hug in’ flavours. We also include specially selected ingredients such as smoked oils in our meats and The Cornish Seaweed Co’s seaweed in our fish alternatives to add depth of flavour and create the taste we all know and love!

We do not use any soy or wheat ingredients but are only certified as gluten-free, so please do be cautious if you are sensitive to soy! Our products have been tested and are under 20ppm for gluten, and we are in the process of obtaining Coeliac Society accreditation.

We do use alliums in our products: examples include smoked garlic and grilled onions.

If you’re sensitive to anything else or need specific information, please do contact our friendly customer service team who’ll be pleased to help you out!

Sustainbility

Jackfruit uses a whopping 100 times less carbon than British grass-fed beef and once it is shipped over to the UK, this becomes two thirds less carbon emitted when compared with British grass-fed beef.

Jackfruit trees are a sustainable crop and have low water and carbon footprints associated with production. They are also resistant to climate change-related challenges, such as pests, diseases, drought and high temperatures. Because of this, jackfruit is well-positioned to become a replacement for staple crops under threat from climate change and improve food security in countries across the world.

This year, we are measuring our land, water and carbon usage and commencing nature-based gold-standard offsets with One Tree Planted to support reforestry and biodiversity projects localised to jackfruit farms. From next year onwards, we are looking to offset from right back when Jack & Bry began – and that is only the beginning!

We are collating this info over the coming weeks and will be back with your amazing green stats.
